Parent Review: My Gym of Naples
Apr 5th, 2009

My Gym of Naples offers a variety of classes for children from 6 weeks to 13 years old. My son has been enrolled at My Gym for the past 16 months. He started off in the Tiny Tykes Class and is now in the Waddlers Class. We love going to My Gym and the teachers are friendly and energetic.

The class begins with circle time, practice skills, free play, swing time, gymnastic skill, separation time, games, and of coarse fun.

The circle time activities slightly varies each week. It always starts with warm up exercises and stretches. We either have a different song, dance, or puppet show as part of our circle time.

We learn a new practice skill at the end of circle time each week. Some of the practice skills we have learned are forward/backward rolls, headstand, and assisted flips. The teachers guide the parents through the skills so we can also practice at home.

Everyone likes free play. The ball pit is awesome. The kids can climb, jump or slide into it. They also have tons of different areas to explore in the gym.

My son’s favorite activity is the swings. The swings are really cool they have the choice of the blue dolphin or red airplane swings. My son likes the tandem caterpillar swing the best. Each week they create group swings from mats, ropes, tire swings, and cylinder foam beams.

The gymnastic skills are another part of class, which changes each week. The kids have walk across the balance beam, jumped on the balance beam and hang from the parallel bars. At about 13 months my son was hanging from the bars with one hand unassisted. I was a proud mommy that day and have the pictures to prove it.

I enjoy separation time myself. I am able to take pleasure in watching my son interact with other children and figure new activities out on his own.

The teachers give us different challenging games each week. They all have to do with following directions, learning colors, patience, coordination and much more.

I have watched my son gain self-confidence and independence over the last year. I am so pleased with my son’s progress from week to week. My son actually took has first steps during one of his My Gym classes. I would defiantly recommend My Gym to other parents.
